I have been a member of REI for years. Their knowledge of the gear are impeccable. 99% of the things I have purchased have been great. With that said, the app is not up to par. I am finding that when I click on multiple items, they are not showing up with it, saying "items not found." Then the app crashes. I have used this app on multiple phones throughout the years. When I go to the website, those items are there. This app needs more attention and updates to resolve the issue of it crashing.

I get notifications on my phone about sales, deals or other stuff from REI app. I click on it, REI app opens, but message doesn't load. So they are try to sell me something, they get my interest, but when I try to browse and maybe purchase something, app doesn't show me what the deal is or what they trying to promote as messages do not load. So I quickly lose my interest and promptly close the app. REI is definitely losing money here. It's been like this for a very long time.

Will not work on either Samsung tablet or phone, despite the app settings confirming both are compatible. Complete a gift card order info, press add to cart, and the app closes. I uninstalled & reinstalled it to clear everything, but it still does that. App is broken & useless, at holiday season.

This new "Compare" button is a little silly. It's right where you put your thumb when you're scrolling the endless items REI has to offer, so it's affecting my experience already in a negative way. Not to mention, I likely won't ever use the compare feature. And the button bounces down off the screen like it's going away and pops right back up when I am scrolling. I'd say remove it; the UX needs a serious rework. Revisiting this later...still the most annoying thing EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Provides many options for REI members. Inventory check and barcode scanner, for in store shopping. Purchase history, I believe it goes back 5 years. Create your wish lists! Items in your list get updated pricing. I love to check on my lists often during sales events! It's fun to check the deal of the day. Also, classes are in the app too.

I love the app. However, I hate the new UI. It was so much simpler to use when there was the menu in the top left ccorner. Now there's big buttons right in the middle of the screen which is annoying because it always takes me a minute to figure out how to navigate the app. I'm not a professional, however, I have studied some app development and if I remember correctly one of the basic rules of design is to place things where users expect to find them. Other apps have menus in the left corner.

Been a member for over a decade, even worked for the company for 1.5 years. The app is solid, but could most definitely be improved on the back and frontend for it to be a 5-star tool. My wishes through the years (and especially more recently) are that some items sometimes showing up as being in stock, especially those that are on sale, when they are not. Also, not having the in-app option to shop ReSupply/Used Gear. And please make it possible to pay for used gear w/ our dividends on the app!

Unable to add payment method via manual entry. Repeatedly received an error " whoops", something went terribly wrong on our end". There is an option to take a picture of your card to add automatically, however, unable to take picture. My guess is, I have an REI Mastercard with the acct info on the back. Called customer service and rep was able to enter and save her cc info. I checked for updates (none) then reinstalled and still no go.

Shows inventory, availability, location, etc. for items and those sorts of things you would expect to see. However, their filtering is frustrating. For example their price filter is not very granular; there's a $50.00 - $99.99 box to check with no steps in between. The worst part is that, once a filter has been set (e.g., preferred size, gender, etc.), if you leave the app (to message someone, check directions to someone, etc.), the filter resets in the background and it has to all be set again

Seems to do its job. As a co-op member, I probably could use it from time to time. But any app that overrides my expressed notification preference has to go. If you give your customer the ability to opt out of something, and you opt them back in when they're not looking, that's a facebook, oops I mean deceptive, way of doing business. I tried it multiple times, both logged out and logged in. Uninstalled.

This app was really good until it started crashing if it even opened. I literally just un installed it and reinstalled it, and it won't even open now. Un installed for now. REI let me know that they fixed the issue. I have installed it again, and it appears to be working with no issues. As far as shopping and ease of use this is one of the better apps, and REI is a great store.

For shopping the app works great and seamlessly with my account and purchases, etc, but I couldn't complete my purchase on the app - there was no button to complete purchase, the page didn't scroll, just a dead end once it got to my payment method. No error message or feedback if I had made a mistake, either. However, when I went to the website, my items were in the cart, and I was able to complete my purchase there. Not much help as a shopping app if you can't actually buy anything with it!

App is pretty great overall. Looks nice and the animations are clean. However, there are two issues I experience often. The shipping progress bar never updates properly. There are orders which I received over a month ago that still say "in transit." Also, the in-stock notification email option doesn't seem to work or is also lagging. I opted for a message to be sent when some REI boxer briefs were available in my size and didn't receive anything but they are available today.

I love REI, but I'll be honest, I avoid this app. Order status is buried. Notifications about sales / etc take you to a blank page (with ever-wiggling compass graphic). The inbox callout never clears its red flag after you manage to find the actual message. And the worst: it relies on external browser cookies for authentication (like 2008 apps) so you're logged out everytime your browser clears cookies, which for me is constantly. A modern app should stay logged in regardless of externalities.

5 star app...easy to find what I want, great menu and search capabilities. Photos are clear. Nice overall layout. Great features for members, can purchase products, (for delivery or in-store pickup), can search used gear store, can register for events. App also stores my wish list items, which is amazing/convenient! This is one of the few retail store apps that is equally as good (possibly better in some ways) as the computer web browser counterpart. Thanks REI, keep it up! Awesome app!

If an item was ordered online through the REI app and I go to check the status, I shouldn't have to go back find the email find the confirmation over and enter all the other redundant information from when I originally ordered the product online in the app. This needs to be changed so we don't go bouncing around emails. Not a customer focus item for sure

A Google user

Pretty annoying to use. The back button almost always brings you to the home page instead of following the breadcrumbs backward. This means that if you are looking through a list of items, and hit back, you must find the list you were looking for all over again. Because the app is already kind of slow, this is very time consuming.

Nate Collins

Used to be perfect, but as many other reviewers have noted, you can no longer filter by sub-categories rendering the app useless. For example, if you are looking for a mountain bike and click on the category "cycling", you will be unable to filter to just mountain bikes. Instead you will have to wade through hundreds of cycling accessories and clothes to find a bike

(02/04/2022) updated to the third update recently, and the app still won't launch. I've cleared cache, deleted the app, and reinstalled it, and it still will not open. (3/27/2022) Most recent update fixed my issues I've been having. The app is running mostly smoothly, though it still freezes from time to time

This app and ordering online through REI is trash. It created a duplicate order even though it only submitted once. It tried to charge me a 3rd time for one of the items but my bank stopped that charge. I couldn't cancel the duplicate order because REI doesn't allow cancellation of online orders. I also couldn't even submit a complaint properly in the app because even though there is an "other" option, it didn't recognize that as an answer to a required field. And it only offers mail in returns.
